Critical Reception

What critics are saying

Score 76 /100

4MINUTES received generally favorable reviews, with critics and viewers celebrating its ambitious, mind-bending premise and intense dramatic pacing. Reviewers consistently lauded the series for its top-tier cinematography, strong lead chemistry, and impressive visual effects. Many praised its ability to deliver an edge-of-your-seat thriller that seamlessly wove together sci-fi elements with romantic tension.

However, the show's complex storytelling proved polarizing for some. While several critics found the intricate narrative engaging, others criticized the execution, noting that the timeline could feel frustratingly convoluted and incoherent. A few reviewers also felt the story was stretched over its eight episodes, suggesting it might have landed better as a tighter feature film. Despite these narrative missteps, the consensus remains that it is a visually stunning and unique Thai BL series.

“A mind-bending thriller that'll have viewers holding their breath until the end”

“just the right mix of a good plot, super-high-intense chemistry and cinematography that is seriously mind-blowing”

“the timeline is poorly conveyed and often frustratingly incoherent”

Why fans love it

A four-minute glimpse into the future is not much time, but 4MINUTES uses that tight window to shake up conventional boys' love storytelling. The 2024 series centers on a student whose brief foresight activates around a specific doctor, blending an unfolding gay romance with sci-fi intrigue. Featuring Jespipat Tilapornputt in the cast, the narrative treats that precarious supernatural hook as an engine for mystery rather than a simple novelty.

The show stands apart by letting darker impulses drive the plot forward. Instead of sticking to gentle genre staples, the drama weaves in police officers, revenge schemes, and heavy emotional fallout surrounding suicide and the death of a loved one. Combined with mature edges like frank sexual content and the raw grief of an orphaned protagonist, the series hooks audiences by grounding its time-bending premise in tense, consequence-heavy action.
