The Lying Life of Adults

The Lying Life of Adults received widespread praise from critics, who welcomed it as another persuasive and captivating adaptation of Elena Ferrante's writing. Reviewers highlighted how the six-part series uses mid-1990s Naples as a rich, socially textured backdrop to explore the turbulent shift from childhood innocence into the hypocrisies, compromises, and complex secrets of the adult world.

Critics responded warmly to the show's stylistic departure from previous Ferrante adaptations, noting its energetic, brash, and pop-infused sensibility. Praise was also directed at the strong performances from the central cast and the production's cinematic, atmospheric storytelling, successfully bringing the author's nuanced family mystery and exploration of adolescence to the screen.
