Conversations with Friends

Conversations with Friends met with a decidedly mixed critical reception, frequently suffering in comparison to its acclaimed predecessor, Normal People. Many reviewers felt that reuniting the creative team behind that hit yielded diminishing returns, resulting in a series that felt like a faded impression of familiar tropes rather than an engaging drama in its own right.

The show's deliberate, languid pacing proved deeply polarizing. Numerous critics lambasted the miniseries as slow, tedious, and frustratingly reliant on awkward silences between characters who refuse to communicate. Other reviewers were more forgiving of the glacial tempo, arguing that the quiet moments successfully fostered erotic tension, while praising the series for its perceptive eye for detail and authentic depiction of living with endometriosis.
