Murder Is Easy

Critical reception for the 2023 BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder Is Easy was decidedly divided. Many reviewers praised lead actor David Jonsson's magnetic performance as Luke Fitzwilliam, alongside a strong ensemble cast that brought fresh energy to the classic murder mystery formula. Several outlets appreciated the modernization and thematic shifts, noting that exploring race and post-colonial themes helped the adaptation distinguish itself from other period mysteries.

However, the alterations to the source material drew significant pushback from more traditional critics, who felt the narrative revisions were unnecessary and detracted from Christie's original storytelling. Others found the pacing uneven and the production uninspiring, arguing that the mystery felt drab and struggled to sustain momentum despite its star-studded cast.
