Overview

The tranquility in a serene, wealthy community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high stakes investigation unfolds.

Critical Reception

What critics are saying

Score 80 /100

Critics greeted Paradise as a bold, genre-bending mystery that defies expectations. While the series initially presents itself as a straightforward political whodunnit surrounding the murder of a president, reviewers noted with excitement how quickly it pivots into a high-concept dystopian sci-fi puzzle. Reviewers consistently highlight the compelling plotting and abundant twists that keep audiences hooked episode by episode.

Sterling K. Brown's central performance drew widespread acclaim, anchoring the story with emotional depth even as the fragmented timeline and frequent flashbacks leap between past and present. While some critics observed that the series can occasionally verge on preposterousness or narrative incoherence, the general consensus is that its sheer momentum, gripping atmosphere, and committed ensemble make it an addictive and exhilarating ride.

“TV jungle juice in the best way, combining several premises, styles and tones into something so thrilling and potent you barely notice its incoherence”

“On a scene-to-scene basis, the series can be gripping”

“Paradise immerses you into its world—thrilling, mysterious, and constantly keeping you on your toes.”

“Paradise is a 2025 political thriller that shockingly diverts into a science fiction one after the first episode.”

Why fans love it

On the surface, *Paradise* begins like a classic crime drama set inside an exclusive enclave for the world's most prominent figures. The shift comes from its post-apocalyptic, science-fiction framework. When a shocking murder shatters the quiet of an isolated sanctuary, a high-stakes investigation tears through a community designed to keep the rest of the ruined world at a distance.

The series builds its tension through deliberate flashbacks, political paranoia, and claustrophobic drama. By entangling a U.S. Secret Service agent and the U.S. President in the center of the unraveling crime, the narrative keeps the pressure constant. Anchored by Sterling K. Brown, this intense thriller proves that even the most secure retreat cannot hide a killer.
