Critical Reception

What critics are saying

Score 76 /100

The 2026 revival of Scrubs has returned to largely positive reviews, with critics applauding its faithful handling of the original show's signature tone. Praise is frequently directed at the enduring chemistry between the lead cast and the series' ability to balance zany, surreal fantasy cutaways with genuine emotional weight and medical drama.

Many reviewers noted that the reboot feels like a seamless continuation rather than a hollow cash-grab. Outlets highlighted how the show smartly acknowledges the passage of time, serving as both a cozy piece of escapism for long-time fans and a fresh start that taps into what made early seasons special without coasting purely on nostalgia.

However, the reception is not without its detractors. Some critics felt the series felt outdated and anchored to a bygone era of television, pointing out predictable joke setups, clunky transitions into sentimental life lessons, and characters who occasionally feel like caricatures of their former selves. Nevertheless, the consensus leans toward a welcoming return for the beloved sitcom.

“a revival with real purpose”

“the new series will feel like the safest pair of hands imaginable”

“The tonal balance of ‘Scrubs’ between wackiness and wistfulness was always one of its greatest strengths, and the new revival season smoothly brings that combination back to life.”

“a pretty solid piece of escapism, a return that feels almost like what the show would look like now if it never left the air”

Why fans love it

Modern workplace comedies often favor ironic detachment, yet this series chooses an earnest path. It balances the high-stakes environment of a hospital with a sincere focus on the bond between its leads. Zach Braff anchors the tone, shifting between frantic medical scenarios and moments of genuine reflection without jarring the viewer. The result is a consistent blend of slapstick humor and sobering reality.

This approach transforms the hospital setting into a place of layered character growth. Rather than focusing solely on the clinical side of medicine, the show prioritizes the enduring friendships that sustain the staff through their professional lives. By grounding its dramatic weight in a long-standing bromance, the series keeps its emotional footing even when the situations turn unpredictable. It remains a rare example of a medical show that treats its characters with as much compassion as it expects them to show their patients.
