Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso arrived on Apple TV+ to broad critical acclaim, quickly establishing itself as an unexpected bright spot during 2020. Despite initial skepticism surrounding a series adapted from a sports promotional campaign, reviewers widely praised its relentless optimism, warmth, and disarming charm. Many critics noted that Jason Sudeikis's earnest performance transformed a potentially grating fish-out-of-water premise into a deeply comforting and heartfelt comedy.

While the overwhelming sentiment celebrated the show's uplifting spirit and emotionally intelligent character dynamics, a minority of reviewers pushed back. Detractors argued that the comedy relied on dated, hackneyed sitcom tropes and suffered from uneven execution, while others noted that the actual soccer scenes were unconvincing. Nevertheless, the dominant consensus hailed the series as a refreshing, feel-good standout.
