The Signal

The German sci-fi miniseries The Signal received moderately positive reviews, with critics appreciating its grounded, character-driven approach to an interstellar mystery. Reviewers frequently pointed out that the show relies far more on family sentiment and emotional drama than on hard sci-fi tropes or high-octane spectacle, drawing comparisons to reflective genre works like Contact.

While critics commended the strong acting, engaging pacing, and well-sustained tension throughout its four episodes, the series divided viewers with its conclusion. Several outlets noted that while the story effectively raises intriguing questions about extraterrestrial contact and human nature, the ultimate answers and resolution felt somewhat underwhelming or illogical for those seeking a more traditional sci-fi payoff.
