Overview

The two-part compilation, Part I and Part II, re-edits and condenses the key moments from the first season of the Chainsaw Man anime. This compilation revisits Denji's journey, from his humble beginnings as a debt-ridden devil hunter to his transformation into the Chainsaw Man. In addition to the re-edited material, the compilation includes newly animated segments titled Chainsaw Days. These segments adapt bonus chapters from the original manga.

Critical Reception

What critics are saying

Score 83 /100

Reactions to Chainsaw Man - The Compilation emphasize how successfully the release condenses the original television run. Viewers noted that despite the trimmed format, no vital story content feels absent, with the animation retaining the high quality and visual consistency established in the initial broadcast.

Commentators also highlighted the property's distinct creative identity, noting its balance between Western cinematic storytelling influences and classic Japanese dark comedy horror. The mixture of eccentric characters, over-the-top gore, and cross-cultural media elements continues to set the series apart from its peers.

“No content feels missing. Animation stays high quality and consistent.”

“It's the anime that in my mind encapsulates and exploits the cultural exchange between Japanese and American media to its fullest extent.”

“distinctly a Japanese dark comedy horror series with exaggerated characters like Denji and Power and gory demon fights.”

Why fans love it

This 2025 anime compilation condenses Denji's journey from a debt-ridden devil hunter into a chainsaw-wielding force working alongside a secret organization. Based on the manga, the narrative mixes supernatural action with complex, philosophical themes. By streamlining the major events of the original season into a tight two-part format, the edit keeps its focus sharp without losing any of the chaotic energy that defines this shounen story.

What really draws fans to this project is the inclusion of material beyond the standard recaps. The release features *Chainsaw Days*, a set of newly animated segments adapting bonus chapters straight from the source manga. Anchored by voice work from Kikunosuke Toya, the compilation delivers a fast-paced way to revisit the narrative while offering fresh scenes that expand on the original run.
