Critical Reception

What critics are saying

Score 85 /100

Critics widely praised Deli Boys as a sharp, hilarious, and energetic crime comedy that successfully layers an engaging caper plot over a droll examination of the Pakistani American experience. Reviewers highlighted the show's willingness to embrace madcap, farcical, and lewd humor while keeping the tone light, fun, and fast-paced.

The series earned strong marks for its writing and lead performances, with multiple critics singling out Poorna Jagannathan for a standout, show-stealing role. Reviewers noted that the chemistry between the main cast and the droll cultural specificity give the series a distinct charm and make it an easy, engaging binge-watch.

While a few critics pointed out that the show leans into feather-light depth and broad farce rather than deeper emotional complexity, the overwhelming consensus considers it one of the early standout new comedies of 2025.

“lewd, crude and utterly hilarious”

“layering an engaging criminal caper on top of a comedy about the Pakistani immigrant experience”

“boasts a killer sense of humour, perfectly paired leads, and a refreshingly specific cultural perspective”

“Deli Boys feels feather-light”

Why fans love it

Deli Boys explores the friction between pampered lives and the sudden, harsh realities of a criminal underworld. The dynamic between the brothers provides the emotional anchor, shifting from personal grief over their father to the professional demands of maintaining an illicit empire. It treats the transformation of their convenience store inheritance with a grounded tone that balances heavy dramatic stakes against the absurdities of their new situation.

Asif Ali carries much of the screen time, positioning the brothers as outsiders navigating a world they were never meant to inherit. The series leans into the specific Pakistani American experience to frame how the siblings reconcile their past with the shadowy business their father hid in plain sight. It keeps the focus on the strain of brotherhood when money, family legacy, and criminal secrets collide in the backroom of a shop.
