Overview
After saving humanity from the despicable Demon King, Leo Demonhart does not earn a hero’s standing. Instead, he is regarded with suspicion and hostility by those he fought to protect. Treated as a pariah with nowhere else to turn, exiled Leo seeks a position in the army of his former nemesis! But the army is not what it once was before its defeat at Leo’s hands, so to maintain his new position, Leo must whip the forces back into fighting shape.
I'm Quitting Heroing flips the traditional fantasy script by turning the savior of the realm into an outcast. Rather than enjoying a hero's reception, Leo Demonhart finds himself alienated by the very society he liberated, forcing a sudden and cynical career pivot. The dynamic shifts from sword-swinging adventure to the practical, sometimes mundane complications of restructuring an army.
The show balances classic themes of super-powered conflict with a workplace comedy sensibility. Kensho Ono brings a measured tone to Leo as he navigates the irony of reviving the spirits of his former enemies. It is a strange inversion of the genre, focusing less on the glory of vanquishing a demon king and more on the messy, administrative reality of what happens once the fighting stops.
